Ahwach 2025 in Ouarzazate: The Cultural and Developmental Map of the 13th Edition Festival Unveiled at a Press Conference.
As part of the preparations for the launch of the Festival, an important press conference was held this Wednesday, October 22nd, at 11:30 AM, at the Specialized Institute of Hotel and Tourism Technology in Ouarzazate.

This meeting was an opportunity to unveil the rich and ambitious program for this edition, identify the contributing partners, and review the cultural and developmental objectives that the Festival seeks to achieve.

This press conference was chaired by Mohammed Khetouch, President of the Ouarzazate Events Association, alongside the Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication - Culture Sector, members of the Ouarzazate Events Association, the President of the Provincial Tourism Council, Iman Saber, Azzedine Tastift, Artistic Director of the Festival, and a number of representatives from local and national media platforms.

In an opening speech, the conference chairman affirmed that the National Festival of Ahwach Arts is more than just an artistic event; it is a celebration of the profound national cultural heritage and an embodiment of the values of solidarity and artistic and social fusion that characterize Moroccans.

Other speakers also emphasized that the ultimate goal remains the preservation of "Ahwach" art as an "intangible human heritage," and the diligent pursuit of its enhancement and inscription as a World Heritage, to ensure the continuity of this authentic collective art that reflects collective joy and the cycle of social and artistic life.

**A Creative Concept Blending Authenticity and Modernity**

Azzedine Tastift, the Artistic Director, expressed that the thirteenth edition is distinguished by adopting a unique "creative artistic concept," aiming to link Ahwach arts to daily life in its various manifestations.

He added that artistic performances will be presented in various cultural spaces in Ouarzazate, highlighting the celebratory aspects of the art in an advanced scenographic framework, with ancient cultural, heritage, and artistic content. The positive paradox lies in blending authentic heritage with contemporary elements, by employing effects based on modern technology, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the rituals and collective life associated with "Ahwach" as a cultural heritage with tangible and intangible significance.

The **Festival program**, announced during the press conference, includes a rich selection of segments, such as:

* Activating the space of the historic Taourirt Kasbah. * Organizing an intellectual symposium on "Safeguarding and Protecting Ahwach Arts," with the participation of specialized university researchers. * Hosting the carnival dedicated to Ahwach arts, which will parade through the city streets, giving residents and visitors a unique opportunity for direct engagement with this artistic diversity. * Honoring the Living Human Treasures who have rendered great services to Ahwach art. * Holding thematic workshops dedicated to teaching Ahwach arts and the techniques of making its instruments for the benefit of youth, to ensure the sustainability of the art and its transmission between generations.

During the conference, it was indicated that **what makes this edition particularly distinctive is the wide participation of Moroccan and international artists**, embodying the Festival's theme and enhancing its universal dimension.

The Regional Director of the Culture Sector confirmed that the Festival is expected to attract a large number of visitors from within Morocco and abroad, which will form an ideal opportunity to highlight the immense potential that the region boasts in the fields of heritage, tourism, cinema, oases, biodiversity, and traditional crafts.

He added that organizing this festival, with support from various partners, clearly aims to encourage tourism in Ouarzazate, which is a premier tourist destination, and to actively contribute to keeping pace with the cultural and tourist dynamics in the province, thereby affirming the role of culture as a fundamental lever for local development and national and international outreach.
